Tips to Repeat Sales Online

August 11th, 2011

The only way to succeed online, whether that’s with eBay or your own website, is to somehow gain repeat sales from the same customers.  Customers who have had a great user experience using your website or buying from you on eBay will return, it’s as simple as that.  But just how do you get your customers to come back time and time and gain and even recommend you to their family and friends?

The simple answer is to provide great customer experience!

1)  Your primary job is to make sure that you have great and simple ways that your customers can get in touch with you and you can get in touch with your customers.  Publish your physical address and email address in a prominent place on your website or in your contact details.  The same goes for your phone number.  If you can afford a free-phone number, then get one!

Make sure you’re always prompt, polite and as helpful as you possibly can be when you make contact with your customer.

2)  First class customer service involves ‘over delivering’!  Over delivering has become a buzz word over the last few years and rightly so.  If your customer feels that they have got more from you than they thought they ever would, then you will have over delivered.

Now when you over deliver it doesn’t have to be in terms of giving more products than the customer thought they would receive, although it can do, it could be just that you gave your time.  Your customer had a problem and you went beyond your responsibilities and really helped them out.  Do this for your customer and you’ll be surprised what you will do for your reputation and how far that valuable reputation will take you in terms of repeat sales.

3)  Keep in touch with your customer!

These days keeping in touch with your customer is very simple.  Companies such as Aweber.com are first class at giving you the tools to stay in regular touch with your customers.  Place an email captcha or newsletter sign up box on your website, encourage your customers to sign up for your newsletter and you’re golden for repeat sales online.  Send out special offers first via your newsletter so that your newsletter subscribers feel special and feel as though they’re getting the chance of a bargain before the general public get the offers.  Make sure you’re using your newsletter to offer Christmas, Easter, Summer and Winter sales when they’re pending.

4)  Make sure your pricing is competitive.  The worst thing you can do is to pitch your pricing wrongly and have customers leave your site or your eBay listing because they feel they can get what you’re offering from your competitor at a cheaper price.  So keep track of what your competitor is up to and do better than they’re doing.

All these points are key if you really want to make your business grown and prosper.  Repeat sales online are a lifeline to many top class small and one man band websites and eBay shops, you can join that rank by putting these 4 tips into practice.

Selling on eBay

February 3rd, 2010
Selling on eBay has become one of the quickest and easiest ways for hordes of people with little business backgrounds to set up and run their own online business. Indeed selling on eBay is the first place that many turn to when they think about making money online. As with anything else, it can be a steep learning curve for those who are not in the know. However, with a little research and some dedication, selling on ebay can be a great way to making a tonne of money very quickly.

What You Should Be Selling On eBay

That is often the biggest stumbling block for many novices. Truth be told your first stop as a seller should always be any surplus items you have hanging around the house that you don’t want or need. You must’ve heard the phrase that “people buy anything on eBay!” Well to a certain extent, that’s true. If something is in relatively good order and you have no use for it, sell it on eBay. Someone may just be looking for what you’re selling!

Once you’ve exhausted itmes hanging around your home, you are then ready to move on to buying stock to sell on eBay. To decide which way to go when choosing stock to buy to sell on eBay, the best thing to do is to go to eBay and see what is selling on eBay! You should ideally, start with a product that is easy to source and yet there is sufficient profit to be made when you sell it on eBay. You need to find a product that though you can get hold of a good amount of this product at wholesale, it is hard for others to find. This may sound impossible, but if you manage to find the golden nugget at the right price, then you are in for making a huge killing selling on eBay.

A great tool to use to help you with your selling on eBay is the eBay Pulse.  This tool will tell you what people are searching for to buy and it will also tell you which are the top most watched items that people are watching,i.e. the items that have had the most attention from potential buyers. If you can source any of the items that ebay pulse has in their list at the right price, the money will roll in.

Selling On Ebay – Keep An Eye On Costs

Once you start selling on eBay, whether you’re selling off your own stuff or selling stock that you have bought specifically to sell, then it is paramount that you keep a watchful eye on the costs you will incurr when you’re selling on eBay.
You should calculate how much it will cost you to sell an item on eBay – that includes your sellers fees, you listing fees, cost of package and postage and you should also factor in a margin for returns and or losses.

You should also bear in mind that you will at some point have to relist an item that does not sell. This is a hidden charge that many sellers selling on eBay do not factor into their costs and as a result they wind up losing big time. It’s true that if you have a hot item you will probably not have to relist that item, because it will sell straight away. It is also true that you can recoupe your listing fees if an item sells second time around, however, your business plan should take into account that it may take you several attempts listing the same item before it sells. Bear this in mind, do your maths accurately and your business will remain healthy.

You should also factor into your selling cost the cost of using  PayPal  PayPal charge a fee for you to receive funds to your account and you can get a break down of their TOS (terms of service and fees) by visiting their website.

Selling on eBay Means You Must Have A Great Title

One of the biggest mistakes that new sellers make when they begin selling on eBay is that they do not pay enough attention to the title of their listing. You should always aim to have your keyword in the title of your listing. Forget about gimmicky titles like “L@@K!” they are simply a waste of the precious characters that eBay allows in your title block.

Be specific about what you’re selling. If you are selling a designer item, then get the designer name in the title. If size is relevant, get that in also. Leave the selling for the main body of the listing where you can throw in such descriptive words as “rare” “precious” and the like. You need a conscise and keyword rich title to attract the search engines to include your item when someone searches for items like yours.

A major hurdle that people new to  eBay  face is their lack of feedback or trust. The eBay community is tied very closely to a feeback system. As a seller or a buyer you are rated by your trading partners through a feeback system. You are judged as to whether you paid promplty as a buyer, whether or not you caused unnecessary problems.  As a seller you are rated on such things as, whether you mailed out the item quickly, the item was as described in your listing and if your postage and package costs were reasonable and in line with the actual cost of shipping. If your trading partner did not find the transaction easy, then you are liable to have your feedback affected.

Successful Selling On eBay Means You Must Be Trusted

But just how do you build up a feedback score and gain trust as a seller if you have never sold anything? You begin by buying items that you need and by leaving feedback for the seller and the seller will then leave feedback for you. All your prosecptive buyers want to see is that you have a history in the community that is basiclly honest and trustworthy.

Selling on eBay is not difficult. It is one of the easiest ways to begin your online business career. You simply need to research and put a plan into action. You can make good money on eBay if you approach it as a serious business and grow your business at a steady and sustainable pace.
